The O Driscoll Memorial Archive

As Cape Clear Island is in the heart of the territory which was left to the O Driscoll's after the Battle of Kinsale in 1601. The ruin of the O Driscoll castle of Dún an Óir still stands on the island and cannon balls used in its destruction are on exhibition in the Island Museum. Cape Clear Museum and Archive has a particular interest in hearing from all who are related to the Clann O Drisceoil (O Driscoll Family Worldwide). Family histories, genealogies, career profiles, obituaries, poetry, stories, reviews and documentation of any other kind which relates in any way to a person or an event relating to a named Driscoll, Ó Drisceoil, Driskill living or deceased in any part of the world will be welcome for inclusion in a volume of The O Driscoll Collection.

O Driscoll research material and submissions of family accounts are presented in a set of bound volumes called The O Driscoll Collection. The bound volumes together with all other Driscoll related documentation and memorabilia forms the O Driscoll Memorial Archive at Cape Clear Island Museum.
